Great write-up Stephanie (and great writing!). I NEVER read the Sat. journal...but you definitely made me want to. Very funny.

As a PR by trade, I try not to read the WSJ on weekends. However, you're making me rethink that decision.

Before I returned to the left side of the pond, I used to rely on the News of the World to fill my weekend needs of salacious copy. Happy to know there is an American counterpart.

And now they are both part of the Murdoch empire. Things that make you go hmmmm.

Knowing Stephanies quick sense of humor...it might be dangerous for her to read this stuff in public. ;-)

I love the WSJ and agree that it can be quite humorous ...sometimes intentionally...sometimes un intentionally...and sometimes completely between the lines. There is something in there for everyone and all ages. Given the tragic comedic elements of the political and business world around us it is the only possible way to cover it all.

Compare the WSJ editorial page with the NYTimes. The NY Times of recent years seems bereft of humor? Is that healthy?

I completely agree. The Saturday Weekend Journal (the artist formerly known as Pursuits) is one of the key reasons why the Journal is one of the two most interesting, reading and entertaining newspapers in the U.S. (the other, Rupert Murdoch watchers, is the New York Post).

And it's not just Saturday: The Journal's Marketplace and Personal/Weekend Journal sections are consistently full of great, interesting stories about popular culture, business, technology, entertainment, and things you never even thought about as subjects. Great stuff, and one of the main reasons why I'm a very happy WSJ.com subscriber.
