Here are several organizations that are important to me personally. They deserve a shout-out for their purposes and actions.
BoardAssist. BoardAssist is a New York-based nonprofit corporation with a mission to identify and recruit high-impact board members for the nonprofit community on a pro bono basis.
BoardSource. BoardSource increases the effectiveness of nonprofit organizations by strengthening boards of directors through its consulting practice, publications, tools and membership program. Resources for nonprofit leaders include workshops, training, conferences and the most comprehensive selection of material on nonprofit governance available.
The CMO Club. The CMO Club was founded in 2006 by a friend and business associate, Pete Krainik, as an informal peer-to-peer organization for Chief Marketing Officers. Started with only six members around a dinner table in New York, we have since expanded to more than 800 members and 10 cities. I am a member of the Board of Directors.
The Creative Coalition. The Creative Coalition is the premier nonprofit, nonpartisan social and political advocacy organization of the entertainment industry. Founded in 1989 by prominent figures in the creative community including Alec Baldwin, Ron Silver, Christopher Reeve, Susan Sarandon, Blair Brown and Stephen Collins, TCC educates and mobilizes leaders in the arts community on issues of public importance, specifically in the areas of First Amendment rights, arts advocacy and public education. I get involved with both marketing and fundraising activities on behalf of TCC.
New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA). The New York Foundation for the Arts’ (NYFA) mission is to empower artists and provide the public with opportunities to experience and understand their work. NYFA offers financial assistance and information to artists and artists’ organizations, supports arts programming in the community and builds collaborative relationships with other arts advocates in New York State and throughout the country. NYFA helps artists turn inspiration into art by giving more money and support to individual artists and arts organizations than any other comparable institution in the United States. I am on the Board of Directors’ Marketing subcommittee.
